What you may not do
Except as set out under “What you may do”, you may not copy (including by printing, storing on disk, downloading, or any other way), distribute (including distributing copies), download, display, perform, reproduce, modify, edit, alter, enhance, broadcast, tamper with, or otherwise use material on the website. Third-party stories
Content on the app may come from independent third-party providers. That content is identified and marked: “The story is not journalistic copy righted by the R5News Network and does not reflect the views of R5News.” R5News does not exercise editorial control over that content and makes no warranty about its accuracy, completeness, legality, or reliability.
Contributors
R5News does not allow plagiarised content, or content that directly or indirectly infringes a third party’s intellectual property. Unauthorised use of an image, corporate name, logo, title, video, or article is prohibited. Unauthorised use of a person’s fame, image, or privacy can lead to legal action. Contributors are responsible for copyright infringement and plagiarised content.
Intellectual property in news articles, notes, and other work created by a contributor in the course of the contributor agreement, including digital news and views, rests with the contributor. Signing up on R5News Network allows R5News to use that content on the app. Content given in one language may be posted in other languages without an additional fee. Videos may be uploaded on the R5News app and on other platforms owned by R5News, and on other online platforms. The contributor is not eligible for a share of revenue R5News earns from those other online platforms.
Notice and takedown
R5News may remove or disable access to content claimed to infringe a third party’s rights, and may terminate accounts of users who infringe the intellectual property of R5News or of any third party.
To report a copyright or other content violation, email grievances@r5news.com with a screenshot or a link to the post, and the reasons for the objection. A comment or content grievance can also be sent to grievances@r5news.com or reach@r5news.com with the subject “comment/content grievance”.
A person aggrieved by content or an advertisement on the app may file a complaint. A legal heir, agent, or attorney may also file one, and must submit proof of the right to act for the aggrieved party. If the complaint is not about a crime, a person who is not aggrieved and has no interest in the content cannot file a valid complaint.
As an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000, R5News is obligated to take down content or an advertisement on the app if it receives a written complaint, with the supporting documents needed to show at first look that the content or advertisement infringes a third party’s rights, or if it receives a takedown order from a competent legal authority. R5News may also share the publisher’s details so you can take the grievance up with the publisher. R5News is not obliged to investigate beyond the information and documents in the complaint. Any further action is at R5News’s discretion, and R5News is not required to tell the complainant or any third party the outcome.
Questions about these terms can also go to reach@r5news.com or through Contact Us.
